👩 🍳 How to Make French Onion Stuffed Potatoes

🔥 Step 1: Baking the potatoes in the oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.

  2. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.

  3. Prick them several times with a fork to prevent them from bursting when cooked.

  4. Rub them with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

  5. Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until they are tender.

💡 Tip: A knife blade should sink in without resistance.

🧅 Step 2: Caramelizing the onions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add the sliced onions and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring regularly, until golden brown and tender.

  3. Stir in the garlic and thyme, then continue cooking for 2 minutes.

  4. Pour in the broth and simmer until reduced by half.

👉 This step is essential to achieve the typical depth of taste of onion soup.

🧀 Step 3: Garnish and Gratin

  1. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly.

  2. Cut them lengthwise and gently crush the inside with a fork.

  3. Garnish generously with the caramelized onions.

  4. Sprinkle with grated Gruyère cheese.

  5. Return to the oven for 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

🍽️ Step 4: Serve

Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Sprinkle with fresh thyme or parsley for an elegant finishing touch.

👉 To be enjoyed hot, accompanied by a crunchy green salad
