Step 3: Cooking the Chicken
You have several cooking options:
In the pan: Heat a little oil, then sear the chicken until nicely browned and cooked through.
In the oven: Preheat the oven to 200°C, place the chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, basting with the marinade halfway through cooking.
On the barbecue or grill: Grill the chicken for an irresistible smoky taste.
Step 4: Finalization
Serve the chicken hot, topped with fresh spring onions or cilantro, with a bowl of fragrant white rice or sautéed vegetables.
Tips for a successful Chicken marinated in garlic, calamansi and soy sauce
Marinating time: The longer you marinate, the more tender and flavorful the chicken will be.
Calamansi vs lime: If you don’t have calamansi, lime is a great substitute, but it’s slightly more acidic.
Controlling the salt: Soy sauce can be very salty. Adjust the amount to your liking or use a low-sodium version.
Cooking evenly: For boneless chicken pieces, flattening the meat slightly helps to cook evenly.
Spicy version: Add minced red pepper or chili sauce for a spicy twist.
Reusable marinade: Boil the remaining marinade for a few minutes to make a side sauce.
