Directions
1️⃣ Prepare Your Pan and Oven
- Preheat your oven to 340°F (170°C).
- Grease a round or square cake pan (8 or 9-inch) and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy release.
2️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk well to combine evenly.
3️⃣ Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, warm milk, vanilla extract, and optional warm water until fully combined and smooth.
4️⃣ Combine Wet and Dry
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Do not overmix—stop as soon as no dry streaks remain. The batter will be smooth and slightly thin.
5️⃣ Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and gently tap on the counter to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6️⃣ Cool and Serve
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing or decorating.
